Editor

The Centre for Independent Studies, Australia's leading independent public policy think tank is looking for a full-time Editor to start in 2009.  The person will have a strong interest in and understanding of Australian public policy issues. The position involves bringing manuscripts from the draft stage to final layout. Publications include books, monographs, policy papers web content and a magazine.

Copyediting experience, sound writing skills and an eye for detail are essential. Working in a team environment, the editor will liaise with authors, referees, the editor of Policy magazine, the production manager and the CIS research and administration staff to co-ordinate the publication process from receipt of manuscripts through to production release.

This is great opportunity to work in an intellectually stimulating environment where the ideas that can change Australian public policy are researched and publicised. This unique organisation is situated close to public transport and the Crows Nest shopping area. For any applicant, it is important to be aware of the philosophy of the CIS and be supportive of our objectives. Salary range is $55,000-$60,000 plus super.
