Since 1976, The Centre for Independent Studies has produced some of the most authoritative publications in Australasian academia. Our publications are the most important means of contact between the Centre's ideas and its general readership. From the influential State of the Nation to the well regarded Australia's Welfare Habit, CIS has published hundreds of publications covering topics from the environment to legal affairs to religion and education.

Since 1984, Policy has consistently published articles authored by some of today's foremost thinkers on public policy and big ideas. Due to the quality of writing and the diversity of topics, Policy is considered a 'must read' by leading politicans, businesspeople and academics.

CIS produces two short papers, Issue Analysis, dealing with controversial and current issues. The Centre also publishes a series of Policy Monographs which include books and papers. The complete CIS Policy Monograph series is not currently available from our online bookshop. PMs which we produce in-house can be downloaded free of charge from this website (click on the Policy Monograph link above). If you would like to order a hard copy of any of these in-house publications please email office@cis.org.au with the publication name and author. They are available for $9.95 each.

In addition, The Centre publishes a series of Occasional Papers. These are available for purchase from our online bookstore. Click on the 'Occasional Papers' link above to browse through the titles.
